Hedo Turkoglu is a cult figure in his home
country of Turkey
and he is treated like a gold by his fans, according to Doug Smith of TheStar.com.
Even his teammates in the National team are all-praised for the hardworking
Phoenix Suns forward. Turkoglu’s leadership has brought six straight wins for Turkey in the
ongoing FIBA World Championships. Turkish guard Sinan Guler said Turkoglu is
currently the number one sports personality in their country and everybody
loves and respect him for his work ethics.
“His impact on the team is unimaginable. The way he played today
(energizes) everybody else and the country, of course. When you hear his name
being said on the announcements, everybody’s screaming louder than for anybody
else. He’s probably the No. 1 sports guy in Turkey right now because of the way
he played, especially with Orlando (Hedo’s former NBA team).”
