Good news for Filipino hoop fans. Fil-American Erik Spoelstra will be back as head coach of the Miami Heat. Despite losing the recent NBA finals to the Dallas Mavericks in six games, Heat President Pat Riley gave an assurance that he remains highly confident of the coaching skills and competitiveness of his protegee. Spoelstra, who has been with the Heat franchise since 1995, has a three-year head coaching experience and a career win-loss record of 148-98 or a winning clip of .602. He has led the Heat to the playoffs during the last two seasons. Riley says Spoelstra is a great young tactician and will continue to support him as he expects the Heat to get better next year, according to the BET website.
“No, I'm not going to. It doesn't mean that I don't have the fire. But we've got a great young coach here, and I want to support him. And hopefully, he can grow like I did. We'll bring Erik back, definitely.
“I know what everybody expected here, but it didn't happen. We are good enough. We have enough. We will do all the things we need to do to get better.”
