Nine games and counting. Yes, nine DNP-CD for Rip Hamilton of the Detroit Pistons. What did the poor guy did to deserve such treatment from a franchise he has helped win its last NBA title in 2004? In fact, he has performed well in the 34 games that he played for the team this campaign with averages of 13.2 ppg, 2.6 apg and 2.2 rpg. If the Pistons don't want him anymore then trade him immediately. But please, put now an end to such kind of agony. Chauncey Billups of the Denver Nuggets, whose backcourt partnership with Hamilton during the Pistons championship run is almost legendary, thinks it is a blatant disrespect by the Pistons on a player who has showed tremendous team loyalty, according to the Detroit Free Press.
“He's dealing with blatant disrespect, and I don't think that guys like Rip, (Tayshaun Prince) and (Ben Wallace) should be treated like that, especially for this team where they did so much. He's Pistons royalty. He's one of the greats, and his jersey is going up in those rafters, so he doesn't deserve to be disrespected like this.”
FYI, 2004 is not the only NBA title the Pistons had... they also won back-to-back championship during the isiah thomas-joe dumars era...
ReplyDeleteOh sorry I overlooked the history of the Motor City franchise. Yeah during the Bad Boys era, the Pistons won back-to-back titles in 1989 and 1990.... Thanks for the correction.
