Yes, we have heard it several times, the usual alibi of accidentally buying prohibited drugs over the counter. I think the alibi is being abused or overused by pro athletes who got caught and tested positive of the banned substance. Memphis Grizzlies guard O.J. Mayo was suspended by the NBA for ten games without pay for testing positive of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). In the aftermath, Mayo says he bought an energy drink in a gas station, in which he did not know that it contains the bad substance, according to ESPN. But would you believe him? Well as they say, a person remains innocent until he is proven guilty. Besides, Mayo has a clean record when it comes to drug-related issues. So the debate continues.
“I didn't know it had any bad substances in it, and it caused a 10-game suspension. It's not like I went to a GNC and got some Muscle Armor or ordered some supplement off the Internet or anything. It was just a local gas station that kind of got me hemmed up.”
