The hunt for top caliber foreign reinforcements by PBA ballclubs for the 2nd Conference is now in full swing. Powerade Tigers has already revealed its import in Titus Ivory while Talk N Text Tropang Texters has signed up NBA D-League standout Paul Harris. The 6-4 Harris, who saw action for Syracuse in the US NCAA, played 22 games this season for the NBDL’s Maine Red Claws and submitted norms of 10.8 ppg and 6.9 rpg. His Red Claws contract was reportedly bought out by TNT, according to NBA Fanhouse.
“Already this week, Maine Red Claws wing Paul Harris and Reno Bighorns guard D.J. Strawberry have bought out their D-League contracts -- a fee of $35,000 to $45,000 depending on the type of contract they signed -- to play for larger salaries in the Philippines and Lithuania, respectively.
“This, actually, is why Harris decided to take the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters' offer to leave the D-League to play the rest of the season in the Philippine Basketball Association.”
When Paul Harris was playing BB at Syracuse University in New York state he was coached by Filipino-American U.S. NCAA strength and conditioning director Ryan Cabiles, whose parents hail from the Philippines. Coach Ryan states that Paul is a hard-working and dedicated BB player and family-oriented off the court and just a great guy to be around with. Congratulations, Paul, and enjoy the Philippines!
