Video: THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, JERRY SLOAN!
I have great memories of Jerry Sloan, the man, the hard-nosed player and one of the greatest coaches in league history never to win an NBA title. It is truly a shocker to see Sloan stepped down as coach of the Utah Jazz after 23 years, the longest tenured mentor for one team in NBA history. Who can forget the man who shaped up the careers of hall-of-famers Karl Malone and John Stockton plus other great Jazz players like Jeff Malone, Thurl Bailey, Jeff Hornacek, Rajah Bell, Tyrone Corbin, Matt Harpring, Bryon Russell, Carlos Boozer, Andrei Kirilenko and Deron Williams, to name a few. One of the most colorful respected coaches and well-known for his team discipline, Sloan led the Jazz to back-to-back championship appearances in 1997 and 1998 seasons. Thanks for the memories, Jerry, it’s been truly a great ride!
