For the first time in the last four years, Boston Celtics starting point guard Rajon Rondo is in a long stretch of slump. Never had anyone seen Rondo played below par in as much as five consecutive outings. But it is happening right now. Rondo is averaging “only” 7.0 ppg and 8.2 dimes an outing in the last five games capped by a mediocre performance of just two points on one-of-ten FG shooting in the Celtics last outing against the New Jersey Nets. However, Boston coach Doc Rivers do not believe that his prized spitfire is in a slump and thinks he is just suffering from the normal wear and tear of a long regular season just like other NBA players, according to ESPN.
“I don't know if he's slumping. He's not playing great right now, but I don't think he's slumping or anything. He's just going through a stretch. It's a long season. He's human the last time I checked, and he's going to go through stretches just like Paul [Pierce] and Ray [Allen] and Kevin [Garnett]. They've all gone through stretches.”
