The Dallas Mavericks are getting what they want from Corey Brewer, which is tenacity and great defense. Brewer, who signed with the Mavs as a free agent earlier this month after a contract buyout with the New York Knicks, is fast becoming the x-factor in coach Rick Carlisle’s defensive scheme while coming off the bench. Carlisle thinks Brewer could be the difference-maker in their drive for a first-ever NBA championship, according to the Star-Telegram.
“He gives us instant energy off the bench. He’s a great runner, he makes things happen defensively because he has a great nose for the ball. We’re working with him on his rhythm and on his shooting and how all that fits into our system. We like him very much.”
