ALASKA ACES NEED A QUICK START
The Alaska Aces are off to a poor 0-2 slate in the PBA Governor’s Cup. The surprising tailspin in the Aces campaign can be attributed to two things: lack of chemistry and an anemic start. With Joe Devance no longer part of their offensive scheme, new recruits Jay-R Reyes, Wesley Gonzales, Paolo Bugia, and Hans Thiele are finding it hard to adjust to the over-all flow of things in the Wilfred Uytensgu-owned franchise. There is no problem with Alaska’s import reinforcement Jason Forte, who is evidently a workhorse on both ends. But the major factor remains the team's inability to start quickly. In both defeats to the Talk N Text Tropang Texters (101-75) and Meralco Bolts (81-78), the Aces fell early (17-0) and (22-8), respectively. With only six games left in their elimination round campaign, coach Tim Cone and his battery of deputies must quickly addressed the aforementioned problems or face the possibility of being one of four teams booted out of playoff contention. The time to move on is now.
