Rain or Shine Elasto Painters head coach Yeng Guiao is bringing in something special for the coming PBA Governor’s Cup. Guiao, who has a penchant for hardworking players, has reportedly signed-up Arizona (AZ) Reid as its import reinforcement for the third conference. Reid, 25, is a do-it-all type of baller, who had an impressive college career with the High Point University Panthers. The 6-4 native of Gaffney, South Carolina was named the 2006-07 Big South Conference Player of the Year, the 2007-08 Preseason Player of the Year, and the 2007-08 Big South Conference Player of the Year. He finished his four-year stint with the Panthers with career norms of 17.2 ppg and 8.4 rpg in 120 total games with HPU. After college, Reid had become in-demand for overseas stint. During the 2009-10 season, he saw action for UU-Korihait Uusikaupunki in the Finnish league. This past campaign, Reid suited up for Monthey in the Swiss League and averaged 18.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg in 19 games. He later played for Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut in the Lebanese league, where he submitted norms of 15.7 ppg and 4.5 rpg in six outings. Reid’s college exploits did not escape the eyes of numerous hoop scouts throughout the US, according to Kerry Fair of Prep Nation.
“Arizona Reid has my respect and I wouldn't bet against him as he continues to prove doubters wrong. He may have to go overseas or play in the NBDL (NBA's minor league) but he deserves a look. Somehow some way I have a funny feeling he'll find a way to get a look somehow. Regardless of whether he makes the NBA or not he's had one of the most successful collegiate careers for any player out of the Palmetto State.”
