The recently-concluded NBA finals between the newly-crowned champions,
the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat was truly an intense war both on-and-off the
court. The physical battle and the psyche war sometimes had become too much to bear for both
squads. For the Mavericks, the team usually turn to their spiritual leader,
the veteran and future hall-of-famer Jason Kidd to keep things in proper
perspective whenever the action heats up. The 1995 rookie-of-the year was the
calming influence which kept the team together throughout the post-season play.
Dallas starting
center Tyson Chandler says the coolness of Kidd played a big role in their
magnificent title run, according to Yahoo! Sports.
“He kept us calm throughout this entire thing. We went
through some tough times. But when you look at Jason Kidd, he’s so calm. No
matter if you’re up 10, down 15, he has the same demeanor.”
