COLOR IT BLUE!

How sweet it is! The Dallas Mavericks had just exacted revenge on the Miami Heat as they played with extreme confidence all game long to win, 105-95 and closed out the best of seven finals series at 4-2. The Mavericks led 2-0 during their 2006 NBA finals series against the Heat only to lose the next four games. The next season was even more painful for the Mark Cuban-owned franchise. After posting a league-best 67-15 win-loss mark, the Mavericks were the victims of one of the biggest upsets in play-off history when the last-seeded Golden State Warriors ousted them, 4-2 right in the first round. But this season has brought out the best in their franchise history. Perennial all-star Dirk Nowitzki decided to stick it out with the team when he re-signed last summer. Then Team USA center Tyson Chandler came on board. They pulled off their biggest play-off series when they shut the door on the three-peat seeking Los Angeles Lakers via a whopping 4-0 sweep before finishing off the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference finals. Dallas was the overwhelming underdogs against the celebrated Heat squad in the finals. But they defied the odds to come out victorious for their very first title since they entered the NBA in 1980, via their founder, Don J. Carter. Cuban, after  having sold the company he founded, Broadcast.com, to Internet giant Yahoo! for nearly $5 billion, bought the Mavericks on January 4, 2000. Things has not sink in yet for the finals MVP Nowitzki, who says he still he can’t believe it that they are the 2011 NBA champions, according to The Associated Press.

“I really still can’t believe it. We worked so hard and so long for it. The team has had an unbelievable ride. This feeling, to be on the best team in the world, it’s just undescribable.”
