With or without a lockout, Willie Green is already looking forward beyond the summer. His contract is set to expire on June 30 but the 6-4 guard out of the University of Detroit Mercy is optimistic that he will return to play for the New Orleans Hornets next season. Green joined the Hornets last summer after being traded by the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played his first seven pro seasons. Green saw action for 77 games including 13 starts this past regular campaign with the Hornets while submitting norms of 8.7 ppg and .348 from the 3-point distance. He also averaged 5.7 ppg in six outings in the first round of the playoffs during the Hornets losing stand against the Los Angeles Lakers. Green says he truly enjoyed his first season in New Orleans and is looking forward of returning next season, according to The Times-Picayune.
“I’d love to be back here. I enjoyed myself thoroughly. It was a great opportunity playing for Coach Monty (Williams), and the fellows in the locker room were great. I’d look forward to that.”
