NBA PLAYOFFS TV RATING SOARS TO GREATER HEIGHTS

This season’s playoffs could be one of the very best and most exciting in recent years. People in all walks of life around the world are closely following every game of the NBA post-season play which further strengthens its global appeal. The playoffs are only in the second round, which means we have not seen it all yet despite the joy of upset wins and the agony of surprising defeats that have transpired since the first round. Proof of this year’s edition of the playoffs is a success is evidenced in the TV ratings, which saw a dramatic increase of 30% from last year, according to Yahoo! Sports.

“The NBA attracted plenty of attention all offseason, and that’s carried over into the real games. Those months of free-agent intrigue fed into robust television ratings in the regular season and now into the playoffs. Viewership for the first round was up 30 percent from last year.

“We actually couldn’t be more pleased,” Commissioner David Stern said on a conference call Monday. “We’re actually a little surprised, but pleasantly.” First-round games on ABC, ESPN and TNT were watched by an average of 4.15 million people, up from fewer than 3.2 million last year.”
