MID-SEASON’S BIGGEST STEAL: GERALD WALLACE

Yesterday, I got the chance to watch on NBA Premium TV the Portland Trail Blazers home victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, 110-101. Wes Matthews pumped in 28 points to lead the Blazers but one player I really thought stood out in the home win was Gerald Wallace. The former University of Alabama star scored 25 points and displayed great hustle on both ends of the court either by scoring points or dishing out marvelous assists in offense and tirelessly making steals after steals and grabbing caroms on the other end. I wonder how Wallace maintained his consistency and intensity all game long. Wallace is currently averaging 12.8 ppg, 7.5 rpg and 2.5 apg in 11 outing so far with the Blazers since coming in from the Charlotte Bobcats in a trade for Joel Przybilla, Sean Marks and Dante Cunningham. The 6-7 Wallace has suddenly transformed the Blazers into a potentially dangerous playoff team. Blazers head coach Nate McMillan is all-praised for his prized recruit, who is fast becoming the biggest steal in the trade deadline last February, according to Yahoo! Sports.

“He made big plays down the stretch. A few loose balls, a couple of 3s—just in the right place at the right time.”
