HOW GOOD IS JAN VESELY?

One player to watch in the coming NBA draft is 6-11 Jan Vesely of the Czech Republic. While his stock continues to rise, Vesely can be safely said to be a top-ten pick. And it would not be surprising if he ends up in the top-five selection. Just how good is this 21 year-old Ostrava native? Vesely is said to be very mobile with his height, have good shooting hands for a big man and an outstanding footwork for a big man. He can be very effective at the small forward and power forward spots. This past season, Vesely played for the Partizan club in the tough Serbian league. He posted averages of 11.8 points per game and 5.3 caroms an outing in 19 total games. There were reports that Toronto Raptors President and General Manager Bryan Colangelo including scouts of the Washington Wizards and Utah Jazz have flew all the way to watch him play in the Serbian league finals. Vesely is described as a very good offensive player with a good range from three-point arc, according to the Draft Express.

“Sifting through his recent film, Vesely is clearly shooting the ball with great confidence these days, boasting a quicker, smoother and more fluid release. This has helped him become more reliable with his feet set than he was in the past. He's even knocking down the occasional off-the-dribble jumper for good measure.”
