WILL JAY-R REYES MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THE ALASKA ACES?

Filling in the shoes of the departed Joe Devance in the Alaska Aces line-up will surely be huge for anybody aspiring to be one. But not Jay-R Reyes, who like Devance is also 6-7, the man whom the Aces straightly traded for in exchange for the high-scoring Devance with the Air21 Express. Both players however play different positions. Devance is more of a perimeter player who can effectively play the number three and four positions, respectively. While Reyes on the other hand, is a pure slotman, who makes a living inside the paint. With the Aces, Reyes will make history as probably the only player in PBA history to play for three different teams in the three conferences of a season. He saw action for the Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters during the All-Filipino confab and then was traded to Air21 before the start of the Commissioner’s Cup. Aces head coach Tim Cone says Reyes will have all the opportunity to shine with Alaska in the coming Governor's Cup and it will be up to the 26 year-old Tuguegarao native to do his share.

“JayR will be given an opportunity that I guess he hasn`t had with other teams. Once a player is given that opportunity then it will be up to him to make the best of it. We feel that JayR can take a hold of his role. No doubt about it JayR has a tremendous upside. That`s why we decided to go for him.”

  2. It will surely make a difference, good or bad we're not certain but for sure it will make a difference.

I also belive that JDV's value is not = with Jayr's value that's why I deemed the original trade proposal unfair against Alaska. On the other hand I am positive with how Coach Tim will utilized and optimized the REAL talent of JayR.

Ang maganda kay JayR he is tougher than Devance at mas intensed (minsan nga mainitin pa ang ulo) which is sometimes good, parang nakakahawa. As an Alaska fan sa palagay ko yun yung medyo kulang sa Alaska the past decade, yung attitude at intensity ng isang BONG HAWKINS.

I like to avoid comparison pero sa tingin ko malapit yung ugali (on court) nina The Hawk at JayR.

I'm excited to see the NEW ALASKA and I hope the new acquisitions will add the needed SPICE & FIERCENESS this team is quite lacking for some decade.

Thanks to Joe, HELLO & Good luck to JayR may he flourished in Alaska!!! 17/12 every game I know he'll do it =) by 1standlastacebaby

  3. Thanks, Nice piece of mind! Well, honestly, I believe Jay-R's entry into the Aces squad will really be a positive one for the team. I know something is playing on coach Tim's mind when they pulled the trigger in the JDV for Jay-R trade. Nobody can't pulled a fast one on Tim. Regarding Jay-R, I guessed he will develop into one of the young star centers in the league. Since the time he played in the PBA, I really know it will be just a matter of time that he will really shine in the pro league. He's got the height and mobility to succeed. I'm seeing him developed into another or a better version of Sonny Thoss in the near future...
