DID D-WILL MADE SLOAN QUIT?

At first, the story is hard to believe. Everyone knows how tough a coach Jerry Sloan is. For 23 long years, no one in the Utah Jazz organization dares to cross path with the soon-to-be 69 year-old veteran mentor. Not Karl Malone, not John Stockton, not Greg Ostertag nor Carlos Boozer until Deron Williams came along. News around the internet are buzzing that a feud with the Jazz star guard made Sloan resign last week, which caught the NBA world by a big surprise. The final straw came during the halftime of the Jazz game against the Chicago Bulls (the Bulls won, 91-86) last week, when Sloan says enough is enough, according to Yahoo! Sports.

“He decided right there in halftime that he was done,” a league source told Yahoo! Sports. “He felt like ownership was listening more to Williams than they were to him anymore. He was done.”

“One source said Sloan had become tired of Williams “blaming everything on everyone else.” Still, Williams, who can become a free agent in the summer of 2012, has remained the Jazz’s best and most consistent player after the departure of several key teammates. Williams has always had a reputation for wanting to win badly and being a strong leader.”
