“Finally! After a long summer filled with special issues in our
office and a lot of free agency-induced chaos in the NBA at large, the new
season is almost upon us…as is the latest issue of SLAM! Given that he was by far the biggest story of the summer, you
knew we had to put LeBron James on this cover. And in a nod to one of our
biggest advertisers (more on them in a minute), and the fact that King James’
biggest comp for a Finals berth may well be his Heat’s closest geographic
rival, we put Dwight Howard on one as well. The Battle
for Florida ,
if you will.”

SLAM 142 AND HOOP GREATEST HITS
Got my
copies of SLAM ISSUE NO. 142 (November 2010) and NBA HOOP 2009-10 GREATEST HITS (September/October 2010) magazines last weekend from my wife, who has just
arrived from a 5-day official trip to Hong Kong. SLAM 142 features a unique issue with primary
and secondary covers. The secondary cover shows just the SLAM logo and No. 6, which is a prelude to its primary cover, who is no other than the king himself,
LeBron James in his brand new Miami Heat home jersey. Actually there are two
different covers for issue number 142,
the other is Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, also complete with
primary and secondary covers too. Meanwhile, the NBA HOOP 2009-10 GREATEST
HITS issue features the past season in
memorable photos with interesting caption stories. SLAM Editor-In-Chief Ben
Osborne said there is no better way to have on the cover than the biggest story of the summer,
James leaving his home state for South Florida, where he join hands with Dwyane
Wade and Chris Bosh to form the celebrated “Miami Thrice”. Both magazines are also currently available now in the country and sells at P450.00 (SLAM) and P 575.00 (HOOP), respectively.
