HEAT TAKES OPENER

As I've said earlier, the regular season series result is not an indication of what will happen in the wild and wooly world of NBA playoffs. The Miami Heat blasted the defending Eastern Conference champions, the Boston Celtics, 99-90 in the opener of the much-awaited best-of-seven second round playoff series. The Heat went down in three out of four meetings with the Celtics this past regular season wars. However, Miami turned the tables this time against Boston, showing their total domination power on both ends as Dwyane Wade exploded for 38 points. The Heat even surprised the Celtics with a new deadly weapon in James Jones, who was very consistent in the offensive scheme of things as he ended up with 25 big points off the bench. Heat Fil-Am head coach Erik Spoelstra however cited the over-all brilliance of LeBron James, who was so dominating with his 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, as the key to the resounding opening salvo, according to the Miami Herald.

“It was one of the most intelligent games he’s had all year. He didn’t force it. He was our primary post-up player. He got in the open court and guarded four or five different matchups including their centers. He had so many responsibilities. Because of his intelligence and IQ he can handle it. He can play a lot of different positions and not get out of rhythm.”
