STAYING PUT

Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd will continue their quest to give Mark Cuban and the City of Dallas their first ever NBA title. Yahoo Sports reported that the “German Bomber” free-agent has agreed on a new contract deal with the Mavericks for more than$80 million over four years, with a no-trade clause.

Holger Geschwindner, who is Nowitzki’s adviser, was ecstatic about the new deal, which the past few days had the Mavericks followers on the edge of their seats, biting their fingernails and left wondering if ever the 2006-07 MVP will truly leave the only team that he had played for in his NBA career.

“I think it’s a great deal. We’re pumped. We did not know (if he would re-sign). We had a bunch of options. Finally, he agreed. Dirk agreed with Mark, one-on-one.”
