Well
known for his Altlas-like body and physical game to which nobody wants
to mess up with, it is hard to believe that Hall-of-Famer Karl Malone admitted
that he played cautiously throughout his long career in the NBA. The reason for
his non-reckless approach is that he hates to commit turnovers so he wants to
take care of the ball each time after a rebound or a good defensively play. The
6-9 “Mailman”, who was the 13th pick over-all in the 1985 rookie
draft (out of Louisiana Tech) by the Utah Jazz, played 19 years in the league
with career norms of 25 ppg, 10.1 rpg and 3.6 apg in 1,476 total games for the
Jazz and the Los Angels Lakers. Together with another Hall-of-Famer John Stockton , they will always be remembered one
of the most unforgettable dynamic duos in NBA history.
“You've got to defend, ... You've got to rebound the ball. I like to run
the fast break, but I don't like throwing the ball all over the place. I'm a
low-turnover guy.”
