Video: HISTORY OF THE WARRIORS LOGO

The Golden State Warriors is an NBA pioneer franchise. Established in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors, the Pennsylvania-based squad bagged the first-ever Basketball Association of America (BAA) championship, which will later become the National Basketball Association (NBA). After 15 years, the Warriors moved its franchise West to San Francisco in 1962. In 1971, the Warriors were on the move again, this time to Oakland and renamed themselves as the Golden State Warriors. The team’s last championship was in 1975, when they upset the Washington Bullets in a four-game sweep. Among the notable stars of the 1975 squad coached by Al Attles, includes Rick Barry, Keith Wilkes, Phil Smith and Clifford Ray.
