Washington Wizards in
action in file photo. |
Gilbert Arenas says the face of the Washington Wizards now is John Wall. Arenas, who is coming back to put the pieces back together in his tarnished NBA career after a raucous season last year, will try to pass the baton to the talented rookie point guard from Kentucky this coming season. Arenas further stated that he is now teaching Wall the NBA game and once the latter gets settled, he may see himself expendable and ready to move on, according to The Washington Post. The current $111-M contract of Arenas with the Wizards will expire on 2014.
“Right now I'm out there to hit open shots, teach John the ins and the outs of the game, and then eventually go on and move on. I'm on my way. This is the NBA. There's few players that stay in the same city, so right now the city is John's. I'm not here to fight anybody. I'm here to play alongside of him. He's Batman, I'm Robin. When I came in, Larry [Hughes] moved aside for me to become a star and I'm moving aside for him to become a star.”
