Dallas Mavericks One-Two Punch:
Jason Kidd (left) and Dirk
Nowitzki. |
Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle thinks depth and balance of the team will ease out some pressure off key men Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd this coming season. Carlisle said he expects at least one or two guys to average at least 20 pints a game to help out Nowitzki in the scoring department, according to Star-Telegram.com. Carlisle is likewise happy with the development of his younger players like Roddy Beaubois, J.J. Barea, Dominique Jones, Alexis Ajinca and Ian Mahinmi. As for veteran Shawn Marion, he hopes the offensive prowess of the “Matrix” is the one he is looking for to backup the “German Bomber”.
“One of our strengths is going to be our depth and our balance. That's got to manifest itself in spreading our scoring out, getting one or two more guys in double figures and getting Dirk from 26 to 22 or 24. Getting help for Dirk is a priority for sure.
“I think Roddy, J.J. and Jones, plus our young big guys, can all have a greater impact on our season this year. Dirk and Jason, those guys are as dependable as they come. But it's obvious we have to get their minutes down.”
