Hakim Warrick slams one in during
his Milwaukee Bucks days. |
Phoenix Suns head coach Alvin Gentry quickly dismissed notions that newly-acquired forward Hakim Warrick is the new Amare Stoudemire in the Desert City, according to SportingNews.com. Gentry said the Suns took Warrick in to further strengthen the frontline and not to be another Stoudemire. Gentry added that there will never be another Stoudemire simply because he is a unique player and felt it is unfair to compare the all-star big man to Warrick.
“I didn’t want him (Hakim Warrick) coming in and thinking he needed to be Amare. Amare is a unique player and no one guy is going to fill his shoes. I wanted Hakim to understand that we just want him to do what he does and not worry about trying to be someone else.”
