Last year's NBA rookie sensation
Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee
Bucks. |
Brandon Jennings is puzzled on why he was not invited to the Team USA Training Camp last July. When the Nationals went on to win the 2010 FIBA World Championships in Turkey a few days ago, the Milwaukee Bucks hotshot finally broke his silence as he talked about the possible answer to the intriguing question. And believe it or not, it is not a question of talents or skills or fitting into Coach K's system but it is all about the shoes. Yes, it’s all about the shoes. Jennings, who as a newbie last season stunned the NBA world by banging in 55 points in a game against the Golden State Warriors, thinks that Nike is behind his non-invitation, according to Yahoo! Sports. Jennings wears and endorse the Under Armour shoe brand.
“It’s not my call. That’s on them. But if you want to get technical about it and you really want to look at it, half of the guys there are Nike guys. I’m not saying it’s a Nike thing, but Nike is kind of running a lot of things right now. To have a guy like myself on the USA team that’s flashy and really outgoing, you don’t want Under Armour to get all that [publicity]. I’m just telling you how it is.”
