END GAME PROBLEMS

Spanish guard Ricky Rubio's drive
was rejected by a Lithuanian defender.
Even without star player Pau Gasol, Team Spain remains formidable and is considered the top title favorite before the start of the FIBA World Championships in Turkey, but closing out games is another story for the defending World champions. Spain should have sported a 3-0 card in their first three games but instead has found themselves at 1-2 going into their final two group matches. The end-game situation have become their primary woes. Spain lost their opening game against France after leading three-fourths of the way, then got waylaid by Lithuania after leading by 18 points early in the game. Spanish coach Sergio Scariolo had admitted that the team lost focus in the payoff period against Lithuania, according to TSN.

Team Lithuania celebrates at the buzzer
following their upset win over Spain.
“We were not able to keep our focus in the forth quarter and our concentration against a very good team.”
