THREE AND COUNTING

Team Turkey celebrates their big
win over Greece.
Team Turkey came out victorious from their much-hyped battle with arch-rivals and Euro neighbors, Greece, 76-65, in the FIBA World Championships. Turkey remains undefeated with a 3-0 mark in Group C, while handing Greece their first taste of defeat. The game drew a big crowd with no less than the Foreign Ministers of both nations, Ahmet Davutoglu (Turkey) and Dimitris Droutsas (Deputy FM, Greece) seated beside one another. Antonis Fotsis and Sofoklis Schortsanitis finally suited up for the Greek squad after their serving their two-game suspension from FIBA. Ioannis Bourousis, who led Greece with 15 markers, took the loss in stride, according to TSN.

“For us, it is no problem, it is not political. We are friends (with Turkey).

“We had a bad second half and lost pace. The Turks were on target and by the time we got back in the game it was too late to turn it.”
