WAFER GET CELTICS NOD

Von Wafer foiled any hopes of a homecoming for Eddie House in Beantown. The Boston Celtics finally found a microwave-type of a player who can ignite bench scoring in the 25 year-old former Florida State University star. Wafer, the surprise package of the Houston Rockets two years ago, agreed to a one-year deal with the Celtics, according to hoopsworld.com. The 6-5 swingman played for Olympiacos in Greece last season. He is a four-year NBA veteran with career averages of 6.2 ppg and 1.3 rpg in 109 total games with the Los Angeles Lakers (who selected him in the 2nd round of the 2005 rookie draft), Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers and Rockets.

“The Boston Celtics have signed Von Wafer to a one-year contract, according to sources close to the situation. The deal will be fully guaranteed and worth the veteran's minimum.”

  1. I like this addition by DA and the one year contract. Give him a year to prove himself and well see if he is worth an extension. Definitely has the offensive talent. Mediocre defense that can be improve once he learns the Cs system. Very versatile player to backup Ray and can also play the SF position if needed.

  2. I definitely agree with your views, Ollie. I think it's a make-or-break season for Wafer as far as his NBA career is concerned. This is a big test for him. If he fails the test, then no 2nd season for him in Beantown. And according to reports, he is very excited to join the Cs and that is a good start.
